- VINTAGE JEWELRY DESIGN Finds
a Home at Brickerville House Specialty Shops
- (from the October 2002 issue of
Today's Woman)
Exclusive hand-crafted antique jewelry by Linda Martin, previously
available only at juried arts and crafts shows and a few selected
stores, is now showcased in a new boutique in the Brickerville
House Specialty Shops, Brickerville, Pennsylvania.
The boutique features hand-crafted
jewelry "designed with a Victorian flair through the use
of antique parts, including beads, charms cuff links, skeleton
keys and antique buttons," says Linda Martin, designer and
owner of VINTAGE JEWELRY DESIGN. Her signature line of antique
cuff link bracelets has the qualities of a fine estate piece.
A look that is timeless and "compliments you from denim
to dinner", is Linda's way of saying her creations can dress
up or dress down any outfit or occasion.
Linda finds appropriate antique
parts at estate sales, flea-markets and anywhere old jewelry
is apt to appear. Because of the limited availability of the
materials she uses, Linda's designs are seldom duplicated.
Besides Linda's signature line
of antique cuff link bracelets, her other jewelry designs include:
earrings with movement; filigree buttons and antique buckles
transformed into brooches; charm necklaces and bracelets; and
key-to-your-heart necklaces made from antique silver or gold
skeleton keys. In addition to showcasing her one-of-kind jewelry
creations, VINTAGE JEWELRY DESIGN also offers a variety of hand-picked,
"antiques, collectibles and other pretty things for you
and your home", says Linda.
For many years, Linda, a resident
of historic Lancaster, Pennsylvania, was designing jewelry for
her own enjoyment. What started first as a hobby grew naturally
into a livelihood. Self-taught and inherently talented, Linda
has been sharing these unique, feminine designs with the public
since 1987. Inspired by her love of antiques, Linda's "little
treasures" are of heirloom quality, with timeless beauty
and appeal.
Linda's craft show experience is
documented throughout the Mid-Atlantic States, and her jewelry
can be found in stores from Pennsylvania to Oregon to New York.
A desire to do less traveling and have more time for designing
helped Linda decide to look for a permanent place for her artwork.
Linda's customers had been pushing her to open a store that would
allow them to shop her creations year-round. As luck would have
it, the opportunity "finally presented itself".
